Roll Call Mental Health Training is a series of web-based training modules that provide officers with tools to readily identify the signs of mental illness in the field and to safely and effectively de-escalate these encounters. Funded by a grant from The Ahmanson Foundation.
The Guidance Center partnered with Long Beach and Los Angeles Police Departments and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to develop a series of web-based trainings for any local or state law enforcement agency across the country to use.
It can be frustrating to spend the time to assess a person, write an involuntary hold, find a psychiatric bed and transport to the hospital only to see the person walk past you in the parking lot released by the hospital staff.
This module explains statutory requirements needed in order to conduct an effective mental health assessment and provides practical tips to properly document that on the application you’re completing.
