Learn the skills needed to keep your officers and the community safe. Roll Call Mental Health Training is a series of web-based training modules that provide officers with tools to readily identify the signs of mental illness in the field and to safely and effectively de-escalate these encounters. Funded by a grant from The Ahmanson Foundation.
The Guidance Center partnered with Long Beach and Los Angeles Police Departments and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to develop a series of web-based trainings for any local or state law enforcement agency across the country to use.
Calls involving someone with a serious mentally illness can potentially be dangerous. They can also be some of the most frustrating as we see the same people on the streets, again and again.
This module covers how to efficiently assess mental, emotional and physical status by exploring a series of scenarios utilizing the skills from Module 1, De-Escalation and Assessment. The goal is to help you interact safely and effectively with persons suffering from mental illnesses who are delusional, psychotic, or manic.
