When a child is reported missing, the first three hours following the child’s disappearance are the most critical for an initial response and gathering all available resources. The Office of Justice Programs provides information and resources to loved ones, first responders, and others working to ensure the safe return of missing children. Available resources include the AMBER Alert website and an AMBER Alert Field Guide for Law Enforcement Officers.
