The latest blog from the IACP discusses communication challenges brought on by the nationwide implementation of the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). NIBRS reports have become more detailed; therefore, some context is needed to illustrate the reports’ differences due to system changes rather than increased crime. To meet this concern, the National Crime Statistics Exchange (NCS-X) partners have created technical assistance documents to equip agencies with the knowledge necessary to communicate with the public proactively regarding crime data.
